Tia Matthies is a longtime Seattle resident, artist, and business owner. She and her husband have opened several music venues over the years, including The Royal Room, Rendezvous, and OK Hotel, and are still partners at The Rabbit Box and Hazelwood. She has been exhibiting in various galleries in Seattle and the Skagit Valley for the past 25 years and has participated in Seattle’s Office of Arts and Culture Public Art Boot Camp. That experience led her to the Delridge Art Interruptions and the Alaska Way Viaduct Farewell event, where she installed her “Goats of Many Colors.” Residencies she attended include Wassard Elea in Ascea, Italy (fall 2009), and she received a full fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center (spring 2013). She has also taught several encaustic workshops
